Grinding and Finishing

After casting, every single piece requires individual finishing. There is no universal method. Each form demands a specific approach in order to preserve its structure, curves, and proportions.

This stage is one of the most physically demanding and least pleasant parts of our work. During grinding, we carefully remove all excess resin particles, including the thin edges and residues formed at the top of the mold during casting. These imperfections must be eliminated without altering the original shape or damaging the surface.

The process is slow, dusty, and requires constant attention. There is no shortcut. It is a necessary passage that every piece must go through before it can continue its journey.

Once the grinding is complete, each element is thoroughly washed by hand with soap and water. Only after this cleansing does it enter our clean studio space. The “dirty room,” where grinding takes place, remains separate from the atelier where we work with color, composition, and final assembly.

When all parts are finally prepared, a sense of relief and quiet satisfaction follows. The technical work is complete, and we can return to the creative stage—where form, color, and intention come together.
